Update 3/15/2016 - Detroit, the Motor City. We love our cars here which, unfortunately, means we don’t have a good cross-town public transportation system. There is no hotel shuttle. From the airport to the hotel is 40 miles and at least a 50-minute drive. If you’re flying into town, there are several limo companies with prices starting at $75 one way (up to 4 people). Uber starts at $40 for the lowest cost/size vehicle. Some of the fares quoted have the $10 airport fee included, some don’t, so be aware of that when you compare on line. Uber requires the app, of course. Here’s a list of four possible car services:

Update 3/7/2016 - FLOHMARKT: The past several Bezirksheimatfeste have included a Flohmarkt as part of the weekend festivities. Many people have sold items of Tracht, CDs, jewelry, and much more. The participation has grown each year and we would like to include this informal Markt as part of the weekend in Detroit. The Flohmarkt will take place outside the main ballroom on Saturday afternoon from 1:15-3:30pm. Please let me know if you would like to reserve half a table to sell your items. GTEV Edelweiss Detroit is hosting the 26th Mittelwest Bezirksheimatfest on April 1-3, 2016, and you're invited! Lodging and events will be held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel (formerly Sterling Inn) in Sterling Heights, MI. Access to the Indoor Water Park is included with room reservation.
This event is open to all Vereine in the Gauverband; advanced reservations are a must. The ticket price ($65 adults/$20 children under 10) includes the welcome party on Friday night; Jugendeinzel(preis)platteln, workshops, and Saturday banquet; and lots of fun with friends all weekend.
