After many years of driving all the way to Romeo to attend the annual Gedächtnismesse (memorial mass), we have a new church home! Here's the scoop:
Erwin, Fred, and Rick met with the priest at St. Michaels Catholic Community about holding our service there. St. Michaels is right across the street from the GACC Hall! The mass will be at 2 pm. Afterwards we'll go across the street to the GACC Hall for the luncheon. We ask that you bring a side dish or dessert to share with others. The club will provide the bread, cold cuts, and beverages. The cost is $10/person. All those in our German/Austrian/Swiss community are welcome to attend.
St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes, Sterling Heights
GACC Hall, 40450 Hayes, Clinton Township
You'll need to let Annette know that you're attending so she gets the right amount of food. More on that closer to the date.
Other than location, the Messe will be the same as before with the beautiful music and tribute to those members who have passed away. And of course, food and Gemütlichkeit.
We were certainly blessed to have St. Clements of Rome Church in Romeo be our host for so many years. It was a lovely place to hold our yearly memorial. We'll always remember our years there.
